Lennox V. Miller

Athlete Bio:

Lennox Miller was one of Jamaica’s pioneering sprinters, helping to solidify the nation’s reputation as a sprinting powerhouse on the global stage. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Miller attended Kingston College, where he first showcased his sprinting prowess. He later moved to the United States and attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he became an NCAA champion and established himself as a world-class sprinter in the 100m.

Miller is best known for his performances in the 100m at two consecutive Olympic Games. At the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, Miller won silver in the 100m, becoming the first Jamaican to win a medal in this event. He followed that with a bronze medal in the 100m at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Throughout his career, Miller was known for his exceptional speed and consistency in one of the most competitive events in track and field.

Miller’s athletic legacy continues through his daughter, Inger Miller, who also became an Olympic gold medalist in sprinting. After retiring from competitive athletics, Miller went on to a successful career as a dentist in California, all while remaining an influential figure in the Jamaican sports community.
